Spoon mould

This mould would have been used to make horn spoons. Horn spoons were made by softening a horn plate and placing it between the two halves of the mould. The mould was then compressed and the spoon left to cool. After the spoon had cooled it could be carved and decorated. Travelling People were well known for these spoons which they made to hawk or sell as they moved around the country
