Guests attending a ball at the Northern Meeting Rooms at 14 Church Street. They were built by the Northern Meeting Society in 1790, two years after the Society was founded. The Society's annual ball was the highpoint of the social calendar in Inverness and was occasionally attended by members of the royal family. Here, Princess Margaret is entering the building. Prince Albert was the first such guest in 1847. The rooms were closed for demolition in 1962
