'Viewhill' is on Old Edinburgh Road in Inverness. It was the home of Joseph Mitchell (1803 - 1883) the civil and railway engineer who was Superintendent and Engineer of Highland roads and bridges. He was the author of several books including 'Reminiscences of my Life in the Highlands' (printed privately, 1883-4, reprinted by David & Charles, 1971). The building was later used as a youth hostel
