The Duchess of Gloucester opened the Brin Show, near Farr, in 1955. The Duke and Duchess had a house at Farr, near Inverness, where they spent a few weeks each summer.

HRH Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, was born on 31 March 1900, the third son of George V. In 1935 he married Lady Alice Montagu-Douglas-Scott, third daughter of the 7th Duke of Buccleuch. The Duchess was Patron of the "Scotland's Gardens" Scheme.
