Dalneigh school opening

The Dalneigh area is located in the west of Inverness between the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal. In the late 1940s, many new 'Swedish houses' were built in Dalneigh to tackle the housing problem after the Second World War. A primary school was built for the children of the new housing estate. Classes began there in 1954, although the official opening was not until 1957. Today, Dalneigh Primary School is one of the feeder primaries for Inverness High School.
