Kylesku is a small settlement in north-west Sutherland, where Loch Glencoul and Loch Glendhu join to flow through Loch a' Chairn into Eddrachillis Bay. The Kylesku narrows were crossed by a ferry from the early 1800s until a bridge was built in 1984. In this audio extract, recorded at the time of the last crossing of the 'Maid of Kylesku' in 1984, a group of ferry enthusiasts sing a verse from 'The Waters of Kylesku'.

Interviewer: Right, away you go!

'When it's daybreak on Ben Loyal and the bonnie Kyle of Tongue
The roads we often travelled in the days when we were young
There's magic and there's beauty in those hills we're passing through
There's many a mile from Millness to the waters of Kylesku'
