Orrin Dam, Ross-shire

The Inverness-based David Whyte Studio recorded much of the work undertaken in the 1950s on hydro-electric projects in the Highlands. These three men were photographed on a visit to the Orrin Dam, part of the Conon hydro electric power scheme. Two dams were built to create a loch, Loch Orrin, which supplies a power station where electricity is generated by water power. The Orrin dam has a fish ladder, a series of steps to help salmon pass through the dam
