Dundreggan dam, photographed here in 1958, is part of an extensive scheme providing hydro-electric power. The Glenmoriston power station is directly beneath this dam. The Garry-Moriston scheme became fully operational in 1962. Dundreggan, like many other dams in hydro-electric schemes in the Highlands, has a lift to assist salmon migration. The fish swims into a chamber and a sluice closes behind it. The water level then rises gradually, carrying the fish with it
