Balnagown Castle is situated on the southern bank of the River Balnagown, two miles north-west of Invergordon. Built in the 15th century and extended on various occasions since, the castle was initially the seat of the Clan Ross. In 1972, both the castle and Balnagown Estate were sold for £60,000. Today, Balnagown Estates incorporates the Estates of Inveroykel, Duchally and Balnagown, covering an area of approximately 60,000 acres
