The Northern Counties Institute for the Blind was at 38-39 Ardconnel Street, Inverness. They also had a showroom at 81 Castle Street which sold basketware and bed-linen made by the visually-impaired. The Institute was partly funded by a bequest from Donald Fraser of Hampstead, Middlesex. The money was to be used for the benefit of blind people in the County of Inverness, mainly to provide training so that they could earn a living
