The mountains of Torridon, between Loch Maree and Loch Torridon, form a remote area of spectacular scenery, including peaks rising to over 1000 metres (3300 feet). The mountains include Ben Alligin, Ben Eighe and the Liathach ridge. The mountains are of Torridonian sandstone and some contain white quartzite, which can give the impression of snow.
