This photograph shows part of the interior of the Playhouse Cinema in Inverness. Plans for the Playhouse were proposed by the Highland Cinema Company and were submitted to the Dean of Guild in 1929 by R Carruthers Ballantyne and Taylor, Architects. Jimmy Nairn, the Inverness photographer, was the manager of the Playhouse from 1941 to 1972.

The Playhouse Cinema was destroyed by fire in 1972.
