Marymas Fair 2006, Inverness

The Marymas Fair in Inverness was a traditional holiday festival held every year on the feast day of St. Mary (August 15th) from 1590 until 1850. It was an important day for trade and entertainment but died out with the growth of Inverness shops and the arrival of the large wool sales. The fair was revived again by Crossroads Care (Inverness) in 1986 and has been a popular local annual event ever since. This photograph was taken during the Marymas Fair of 2006
