Boys Brigade troop on station platform

A photograph of the Inverness Boys Brigade Troop posing on the Inverness Station platform.

The Boys Brigade was founded in 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith and was the first uniformed youth organisation in the world. Following the success of the Boys' Brigade, other uniformed youth organisations were formed including the Boy Scouts (1908), the Girls' Brigade (1893) and the Girl Guides (1910).

Today, the Inverness Battalion Boys Brigade has been merged, as of 1999, with the Caithness and District Battalions to become the Highland Battalion.
