Cromarty Lighthouse

Cromarty Lighthouse was established in 1846. It was built by Alan Stevenson, the eldest son of Robert Stevenson, and uncle of the author Robert Louis Stevenson.

The lighthouse was built to safely guide ships in from the Moray Firth to the Cromarty Firth. The lighthouse was automated in 1985 and after a review in 2005 was permanently discontinued on 28 February 2006. The lighthouse was sold on the open market in 2007.
