Longa Island of Gairloch

This photograph shows a view from the mainland out to Longa Island, at the mouth of Loch Gairloch. The island is currently uninhabited and consists mainly of a rocky and sparse sandstone base covered with grass and heather. A small fishing community resided on the island during the early years of the eighteenth century, but it was abandoned during the later years of that century.
