Hills at Lochinver

This photograph shows a view of the rugged scenery at Lochinver, in west Sutherland. The stunning peaks of Suilven are a particularly impressive sight, as seen in the lower right-hand corner of the image.

Suilven is composed of Torridonian red sandstone, and consists of two peaks: Meall Meadhonach, 723 m (2410 feet); and Caisteal Liath, 731 m (2440 feet). The mountain is one of the west coast's most distinctive, and is a popular destination for hikers.

Apart from attracting hillwalkers throughout the year, the region also draws other visitors wishing to participate in outdoor pursuits, including angling and stalking.
