Scene from Badicaul

A view of the small coastal community of Badicaul in Lochalsh. Located around a mile from the village of Kyle of Lochalsh on the west coast of the Highlands, the small settlement sits on the road to Plockton and affords impressive views over the Inner Sound towards Pabay, Scalpay and Skye.

The section of railway in evidence belongs to the Dingwall Skye Railway, which extends from Dingwall to Kyle of Lochalsh, including stops at Stromeferry, Attadale and Strathcarron. The line's original terminus was at Stromeferry when it opened in August 1870 and it was absorbed as part of the Highland Railway in 1880. The railway was extended to Kyle in 1897.
