On the River Inver

A view up the River Inver, which flows out from Loch Assynt and reaches the sea at the town of Lochinver, in west Sutherland. The river is a popular destination for anglers, seeking to land a salmon or sea trout, amongst tranquil and remote surroundings. Recent years have seen a reduction in the salmon population travelling the river, but upwards of 200 salmon may still be caught in a good year. Sea trout has become rarer still, however.

The rugged scenery, in evidence in this photograph, is typical of the region.
