Church Congregation at Lochend

Ever since Saint Columba travelled the length of Loch Ness in the 6th Century AD, Christianity has had an active presence in the area. This photograph shows worshippers preparing for a morning service outside the church at Lochend. Whilst many of these people would have been poor by the standards of their time, they are smartly dressed because the Sabbath was a special day for everyone in the era when this photograph was taken.

The Church outside Lochend still exists and can be seen from the A82 road.
