Horse and Cart

The Horse and cart was a popular mode of transport in the Highland both before and during the introduction of motor cars. This photograph shows a group in a cart at the location of today's A82 road. The location is possibly at temple peer, on the outskirts of Drumnadrochit.

It can be seen from the man's top hat and the polish of the carriage that these people would be from a wealthy background. The cart would be purely for transporting people, unlike most carts of the time which would be made from thicker wood, and be designed to carry heavy loads of fuel and produce.
