Glenurquhart Bowling Club Opening day

Since the creation of Blairbeg hall, and the increased affluence and modernisation of the area, Glenurquhart developed an increasing number of community sports clubs.

One of these was Glenurquhart Bowling Club, which is depicted in this photograph. It can be seen that the women and girls are wearing tartan which they would not commonly have been worn before this date.

The lady in the white clothes was the president of the club, Mrs Johnson, who opened the event by rolling the first ball.
