Church Elders celebrating 25 years in Ministry

The Presbyterian Church, which predominated in Scotland until fairly recently, was named after the Greek word for elder, 'presbyteros'. This was because of the system of governing the church, in which the elders oversaw the ministers and reported to the general synod.

This photograph shows some of the church elders from Drumnadrochit in the 1970s who are celebrating the jubilee 25 years of Rev. Campbell's ministry. Rev. Campbell can be seen in the centre of the photograph wearing a dog collar.
