Soldier's Grave in Glenurquhart

This photograph shows a grave in Glenurquhart, which commemorates a soldier who died in 1866, and who won the Victoria Cross, the highest medal for a British soldier. The grave is carved from sandstone, which is a common local rock.

As Mr McGregor died at age 66 it is unlikely that he would have died in duty. Given the age of his death, it is most likely that he fought in the Crimean War against the Russian army.

The rosette is made out of paper flowers, which suggests that it was laid after the 1980s.
