The Road to Fort Augustus

This photograph depicts the road between Fort Augustus and Glenurquhart. The engineer and soldier, General George Wade built the first road between Inverness and Fort Augustus, and the modern road overlaps it in some places.

The date of this photograph can partially be ascertained by the fact that the crofts are still being cultivated. This area is now largely overgrown and is no longer used as arable land
