Model T Ford Outside Castle Grant

This photograph from the Grantown Museum archives shows a Model T Ford parked outside Castle Grant. There are three ladies seated in the car. The driver is Lucinda Ross, also known as 'Loo'.

Lucinda Ross was a Grantown businesswoman. Having established a bicycle shop on Grantown's High Street, she then set up a garage and car repair business. She later purchased the Ben Mhor hotel in Grantown.

The date of the photograph is not known, though Model T Fords were produced between 1908 and 1927.

Castle Grant, the former seat of the Chiefs of the Clan Grant and the Earls of Seafield, is located 2.3 km northeast of Grantown on Spey. Castle Grant was sold by the Grant family in 1983, and has since remained in private ownership.
