Dukes of Gordon

A view of the Duke of Gordon Monument, on top of Torr Alvie, a wooded hill on the left bank of the River Spey.
The monument was erected in 1840 by subscription for the George Gordon, 5th Duke of Gordon who died in 1836. The Waterloo Cairn, also erected on Torr Alvie, was erected by the 5th Duke to commemorate those local men who fell at the Battle of Waterloo.
