Loch an Eilean Castle, Rothiemurchus

Loch an Eilean Castle is located approximately 2 km southeast of Rothiemurchus, and sits on an island on a loch of the same name.

The earliest part of the castle dates from the late 15th century, and experts think that it was perhaps built for the MacKintoshes. The castle was extended in both the 16th and 17th centuries. It is now a ruin.
