This photograph shows HIghland cattle arriving at Kyle of Lochalsh from Kyleakin on the Island of Skye in a Highland Railways barge, HR No. 2. The cattle were landed at a point behind the Lochalsh Hotel. Cattle reared on Skye were sold at cattle fairs and markets on the island before heading to bigger fairs at Crieff or Falkirk, and eventually to the English market.
