Ponies waiting to be transported by boat at Lochmaddy

A view of two ponies waiting to be transported by boat at Lochmaddy, on North Uist. A herd of cattle can be seen towards the middle of the image.

Lochmaddy, or 'Loch am Madadh' in Gaelic, which translates as 'Loch of the Wolves', is the administrative centre and largest village on North Uist, and is located on a sea inlet on the east coast of the island. A good natural harbour, it is the port of call on North Uist for the ferry from Uig, on Skye.
