A photograph of HR 49 at Perth.

This locomotive was built for the Inverness & Aberdeen Junction Railway by Hawthorns of Leith in February 1862 and had a 2-4-0 wheel arrangement. It was originally named 'Loch' and bore the number 6. It was transferred to the newly-formed Highland Railway in 1865. The HR had it rebuilt in May 1882 and renamed 'Evanton'. The engine was renumbered 6 in November 1893, 32 in November 1897 and 49 in February 1899, after which this photograph was taken.

It was withdrawn in September 1901.
