This locomotive was built for the Inverness & Aberdeen Junction Railway by Sharp Stewart in August 1863. It was one of ten engines in the '18' class and had a 2-4-0 wheel arrangement. It passed to the newly-formed Highland Railway in 1865. The HR had it rebuilt with new cylinders and other fittings in June 1872 and again ten years later. It was given a new number, 38, in August 1902, before being withdrawn in 1906.
