'The Big Ship' is a traditional Scottish children's song. It is arranged and sung here by Christina Stewart, a performer and teacher of traditional Scottish songs.

The big ship sails through the Ealy Alley oh
The Ealy Alley oh, the Ealy Alley oh
The big ship sails through the Ealy Alley oh
On the last day of September

And the Captain says it'll never, never do
Never, never do, never, never do
The Captain says it'll never, never do
On the last day of September

And the big ship sails too slow, too slow...

And the Captain says...

And the big ship sails too fast, too fast...

And the captain says...

(Verse 1 - Standing in a circle, move clockwise in time with the music. Verse 2 - Still in a circle, stand on the spot, frown, and wave pointer finger as if cross. Continue, alternating between fast and slow.)

The song is included in Christina Stewart's CD, 'Bairn's Kist', a collection of traditional Scottish songs designed to encourage adults to sing, play and connect with young children. Christina, a native of Inverness, studied traditional song as part of her university degree. She now works with all age groups, teaching and performing traditional songs.
