'Willie Winkie' is a traditional Scottish children's song. It is arranged and sung here by Christina Stewart, a performer and teacher of traditional Scottish songs.

Wee Willie Winkie rins through the toon
Upstairs an doonstairs in his nicht goon
Keekin at the window, crying at the lock
Are a the bairns in their beds it's past eicht o'clock

Hey Willie Winkie, are ye comin ben?
The cat's singin grey thrums tae the sleepin hen
The doggie's speldered on the floor an disnae gie a cheep
But there's a waukrife bairn that winna fa asleep

Onythin but sleep ye rogue, glowerin like the moon
Rattlin like an airn jug wi an airn spoon
Rummilin, tummilin roon aboot, crawing like a cock
Skirlin like I kenna what, waukin sleeping folk

Wearied is the mither wi a stoorie bairn
A wee stumpie stoorie that canna walk his lane
He'll battle aye wi sleep afore he'll close his ee
But a kiss fae his lips gies strength back tae me

The song is included in Christina Stewart's CD, 'Bairn's Kist', a collection of traditional Scottish songs designed to encourage adults to sing, play and connect with young children. Christina, a native of Inverness, studied traditional song as part of her university degree. She now works with all age groups, teaching and performing traditional songs.
