This photograph shows the Caledonian Canal at Clachnaharry. The swing bridge carrying the railway over the canal has been swung open and beside it the signal has been lowered to indicate that vessels can proceed. The signal box is on the right.

The line through Clachnaharry was opened 11 June 1862 and remains open.
