Close-up of inscription 'I & A Jcn Railway' on lamp-post at Dunkeld Station

This photograph shows a close-up of inscription 'I&AJcn Railway' on lamp-post. I&AJcn Railway is the Inverness to Aberdeen Junction Railway, completed in 1858 between Nairn and Keith. There is a corrugated iron wall in the background which does not accord to any of the buildings at Dunkeld in any of the other photographs. It would appear that this has been wrongly identified as 'Dunkeld'.

The Perth & Dunkeld Railway obtained its Act of Parliament on 10 July 1854 for a line between Stanley Junction and Birnam, on the opposite side of the Tay to Dunkeld. The station was first served by the Scottish Midland Railway and then the Scottish North Eastern Railway before becoming part of the Highland Railway.
