The loco shed at Helmsdale with LMS No. 14408 in steam.

14408, Ben Hope, was built for the Highland Railway at their own locomotive works in Inverness in 1899/1900. As HR No. 12 she was a Small Ben Class 4-4-0. She was renumbered by the LMS and withdrawn in July 1947.

Helmsdale was opened on 15 May 1871 and was the Highland Railway's northern terminus for three years until the line was extended in July 1874. Although the station is still open it lost its goods facilities in January 1984.
