Pitlochry Station looking south from the end of the down platform

A view of Pitlochry Station, looking south from the end of the down platform.

Pitlochry station was opened by the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway (I&PJR) in June 1863. The I&PJR was one of the companies which merged to form the Highland Railway in 1865. It is still served by regular passenger services although it was closed to goods traffic in June 1983. It is a two platform station with a passing loop. The goods shed has been demolished but a siding remains. The station retains its fine main buildings, footbridge, north signal box and wooden platform extensions to the south end.
