HR 8 'Ben Clebrig' on a two-coach Officers' Special at Aviemore in August 1923. Officers' Special was a term used to describe trains which carried officials of the railway company around the network.

HR 8 was built for the Highland Railway by Dübs & Co. of Glasgow in 1899. It was a member of the class of locomotive now known collectively as the 'Small Bens'. After the grouping it became LMS 14404 and continued in service after nationalisation, finally being withdrawn in October 1950.
