HR 2 was built for the Highland Railway by Dübs & Co. of Glasgow in 1898. It was a member of the class of locomotive now known collectively as the 'Small Bens'. After the grouping it became LMS 14398 and continued in service after nationalisation, finally being withdrawn in February 1953.
