HR 28 was part of the second batch of 'Castle' class 4-6-0 express passenger locomotive designed for the Highland Railway. It was built by the North British Locomotive Co and delivered in 1913. After the grouping it became LMS 14689 and continued in service until being withdrawn in September 1944.
