HR 39 on an up train at Aberfeldy.

HR 39 was part of the first batch of 0-6-4 tank engines built for the Highland Railway to perform banking duties (assisting other locomotives to pull trains up steep inclines). It was built by the North British Locomotive Co in Glasgow and delivered in June 1909. After the grouping it became LMS 15300 and continued in service until being withdrawn in December 1936.
