HR 78 on an up passenger train just south of Stanley.

HR 78 was a member of the Highland Railway's class of 4-6-0 locomotives known as the 'Superheated Goods'. These were essentially an updated version of the famous 'Big Goods' class of 1894. It was built by Hawthorn Leslie in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1918. After the grouping it became LMS 17953 and continued in service until being withdrawn in October 1948.
