In 1911 the North British Locomotive Company built 50 locomotives for Chemins de Fer de l'Etat Francaise, the French State Railway. They were built using Peter Drummond's design for the Highland Railway's 'Castle' class of 4-6-0 passenger locomotive. This photograph shows one of those locomotives.
