Two BR Class 156 trains departing Inverness on the 10.45 to Kyle in July 1996. 156504, in the livery of the Strathclyde Passenger Transport executive, is leading 156474 in Provincial livery.

These trains were known as Super Sprinters. 114 were built in the late 1980s at the Washwood Heath Works in Birmingham. At the time of writing (June 2011) they are still in use on the national network.
