54439 shunting its train at Wick. The tank lid of the tender is open.

54439, a 4-4-0 steam locomotive, was built for the Caledonian Railway in 1908 to a design by John F. McIntosh. It was numbered CR 924. After the grouping it became LMS 14439. At the time of nationalisation in 1948 it was based at Carstairs shed. It was withdrawn from service in August 1958 and disposed of in December of the same year.
