The Cuillin are a range of rocky mountains located on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The true Cuillin are also known as the Black Cuillin to distinguish them from the Red Hills across Glen Sligachan. The Cuillin contain 12 Munros (Scottish peaks over 3000 feet (914 metres)) including Sgurr Alasdair, the highest at 3258 feet (993 metres), Sgurr nan Gillean and Sgurr Dearg (the Inaccessible Pinnacle).
Elgol is a small fishing and crofting village on the west coast of Skye. On the shores of Loch Scavaig, with a glorious view of the great Cuillin range, it has long been a popular tourist destination, with boat trips to Loch Coruisk, and the small isles, Canna, Rum and Soay.
