Scourie Village

This postcard shows the village of Scourie on the west coast of Sutherland. In the field in the foreground are several traditional haystacks.

Scourie is a small village on the road from Kylestrome to Durness, a few miles west of Laxford Bridge. It is a popular tourist destination for walkers and anglers and is renowned for palm trees, growing in the gardens of Scourie House, a result of the warming effects of the Gulf Stream.

The nearby island of Handa is a Nature Reserve with a large population of seabirds which include puffins and guillemots
