This postcard shows Scourie Hotel (left) and Scourie Lodge (far right), with the island of Handa in the distance.
Scourie is located on the road from Kylestrome to Durness, a few miles west of Laxford Bridge. Originally a crofting township, the village is a popular tourist destination for walkers and anglers. It is also renowned for palm trees, growing in the gardens of Scourie House, a result of the warming effects of the Gulf Stream.
The nearby island of Handa is a Nature Reserve with a large population of seabirds which include puffins and guillemots
