Station House, Kyle of Lochalsh

This substantial house was used by the stationmaster at Kyle of Lochalsh. Perched on the hill above the rail line, it allowed the station master to keep an eye on the station and pier, and with the stairway built on the rocky hillside, he had quick and easy access to the site. The number of fish boxes are a good indication that Kyle was a busy port, with no doubt many being loaded on the train for shipment inland
